Volunteer Opportunities
Beth Torah Adult Choir

Under the direction of Music Director Linda Sweenie, and conducted by Texanna Ollenberger, the choir rehearses year-round on Monday nights from 7:30 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and sings for traditional High Holy Day worship services, Erev Shabbat Sermons in Song, and for a variety of community events throughout the year.

Beth Torah Youth Choir
The Congregation Beth Torah Youth Choir is open to third through fifth grade students who love music and want to sing it with their friends. Under the direction of Music Director Linda Sweenie, the children rehearse from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings during the religious school year. They join with the Adult Choir singing Erev Shabbat Sermons in Song and also participate in a variety of community-wide events each year.

Intergenerational Ensemble
Congregants 13 years and older who play an instrument are invited to join this group which rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Even if you haven’t played in years, dust off that old clarinet, tune up that violin, polish up that trumpet and Email Linda Sweenie at lsweenie@beth-torah.org or call her at the office for details. The group plays for various events at the congregation, including sermons in song.
Volunteer Music Opportunities
Music is integral to Jewish spirituality, particularly here at Beth Torah, and there are many volunteer opportunities to participate in the musical life of the congregation. Along with our choirs and ensemble, we depend upon volunteer singers and musicians to assist in leading weekly Erev Shabbat worship and Sunday morning Religious School worship. Volunteers also help provide music for High Holy Day observances and other important events throughout the year.
If you sing or play an instrument and are interested in becoming involved, call Music Director, Linda Sweenie at (913) 498-2212, or e-mail her at lsweenie@beth-torah.org
