CBT, Temple B’nai Jehudah & Jewish Vocational Services are hosting a birthday party!

What: Help us host an unforgettable birthday party! Imagine growing up not knowing what date you were born or exactly how old you were. That’s the reality for many refugees who come to the United States and only have a vague idea of when they were born. They are automatically given the date of January 1st as their birth date when they enter the country.

Partnering with JVS (Jewish Vocational Service), we are anxious to help these newest members of the KC community celebrate their first birthday and perhaps the first time they have ever received a gift just for them and just for fun. The birthday party will also provide the children with an example of what happens during an American birthday party – something which is extremely foreign to most of them. One of the goals of JVS is to ease the transition to the United States for refugees and their families. The party will help make their first party of a friend not so awkward.

When: January 21, 2018 from 3-5 p.m. at the Della Lamb Community Center.

What can you do?  You can sign-up to volunteer here.  Monetary donations can be made
