Women of Beth Torah
Women of Beth Torah (WBT) is committed to the Beth Torah community, as well as the community at large. We are an arm of Congregation Beth Torah and work closely with the Beth Torah board and staff.
Our primary source of income is through our gift shop and dues. In addition, we hold fund raisers during the year. Fund raisers have been: challah sale, garage sale, book fair, and cookbook sales.
WBT programs vary. We annually hold a membership luncheon in August and an installation lunch or dinner in May. We invite guest speakers to most programs. During the course of the year we might have a holiday cooking or challah baking demo.
The Community Concerns Chairperson is always seeking organizations which need our help and donations. Some venues we have worked on are: preparing meals for parents at Children's Mercy Hospital, walking as a team in "Race for the Cure", and setting up and delivering birthday boxes for children at SafeHome. In October, 2005 we walked for "Suicide Prevention" and held a Halloween party for children at Spofford. We established the Beth Torah "Families in Need" fund, which assists Beth Torah families in monetary straits. Rabbi Levin is the sole executor of this fund.
Women of Beth Torah offers something for everyone. We welcome you to call any board member for further information.
