Dates for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs are chosen approximately 24-30 months prior to the students 13th birthday. Parents and children who are within this time frame will be invited to a meeting to choose a date and hear about how Congregation Beth Torah prepares students for their b'nai mitzvah, as well as the family responsibility during this wonderful experience. A B'nai Mitzvah Program Guide will be distributed at the meeting ("B'nai Mitzvah" is the Hebrew for "Bar and Bat Mitzvahs").

There are two B'nai Mitzvah Family Meetings each year: one in the fall for those with birthdays occurring September through February, and one in the spring for those with birthdays occurring March through August. These meetings include date assignation for the six-month birthday range of the meetings:
