High Holiday Food Project: Raisons and Egg Noodles!

While we’re in the throes of summer, the high holidays are not far off with Rosh Hashanah starting the evening of Sept. 8. With the economy still in recession, there are Jewish individuals and families who cannot afford to put a traditional Rosh Hashanah meal together. Jewish Family Services is stepping in to help by preparing special holiday food packages for those who need it most.

JFS is asking members of Beth Torah to donate the following items: wide egg noodles and raisins, as well as cash donations to purchase chickens for the meal. Donations can be dropped off at Beth Torah; checks should be made to Jewish Family Services Food Project and mailed to or dropped off at 5801 W. 115th St., Ste 130, Overland Park, KS 66211.

JFS expects to deliver food packages to about 300 people; all have been assessed for help through JFS’ case management staff. If you know of a family or older adult in need of holiday food, please contact Sondra Levy Atherly at JFS at (913) 327-8265.
